Columbia City is the Whitley County seat, west of Fort Wayne along US 30. The Blue River runs nearby, the square is still the center of town, and a lot of the houses have been standing long enough to collect a loose vent or two.
Small-city attics keep the usual guests. Squirrels in the daytime. Raccoons at night. Now and then a skunk under a back porch, because the skirting has a gap and the yard has grubs. Groundhogs like the edges, where a shed meets the dirt.
Churubusco is a short hop north. If you are in the 46725 area, or close to it, send the ZIP and what you have noticed. We would rather confirm the drive in one message than leave you guessing.
Houses around Columbia City
Older attics near the square, and houses toward the edge of town where yards open into fields. Up high and under the porch both get a look.
